Question:  What exactly do you mean by "Fee for Service"?

Answer:  We are a fee-for-service provider, meaning your insurance is not billed for services provided. If your particular insurance has out-of-network benefits or a Health Savings Account, it may be possible to get reimbursed by your insurance company for the treatment you receive. In this case, a Superbill can be provided to you to assist with this process. It is the client’s responsibility to contact their insurance to determine if reimbursement is possible.  We do accept Cash, Check, most major credit cards and Health Savings Debt Cards/Checks.

Question:  What is the cost difference between Fee for Service PT vs. Traditional Insurance PT?

Answer: The truth of the matter is Fee for Service PT may be more cost effective for some patients. Let’s look at the numbers. The table below shows the cost associated with 20 visits to a Physical Therapist at a Fee for Service clinic vs an insurance-based clinic with a variety of different co-pays.   We used 20 visits because that is the typical amount of visits insurance companies allow patients per year.  We are also assuming that in a Traditional PT setting, patients are often see the PT for only 50% of the visit.  We have factored that reality into your cost per minute.

Cash vs Sheet

It would appear that the traditional PT setting at $30 or even $50 per visit would be cheaper, but if you factor in the potential for a reimbursement by a insurance provider and zero potential to get reimbursed for those Co-Pay visits, then a Fee for Service PT would end up being equal to a $30 Co-Pay.  Yes, you might have to do a little paperwork with your insurance company, but you could be receiving almost 50% more one-on-one time with the Doctor vs. your time spent at a Traditional PT.      It is also important to remember that if a patient has not met their deductible, they may get stuck with the entire bill at the end of their PT care if they are attending a traditional PT practice.

In summary, Fee for Service PT offers better services, more one-on-one time with the DPT, and likely less overall time and money.
